Questions

Do I need an API key?+

Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor can use OAuth. Clients that support only headers can use an API key.

I am already signed in. Why approve again?+

Approval is per assistant. It lets you see exactly which app may create figures with your credits, and remove it later.

Which plan do I need?+

Any account can connect and read its jobs and balance. Creating figures spends credits, so you need credits from a plan or a pack.

A figure is taking long. Should I ask again?+

No. Asking again creates and charges a new job. Ask the assistant to check the job with get_job; most finish within two minutes.

Can the assistant edit a figure it made?+

Yes: it can edit, upscale or convert an image, change a chart or flowchart it made, and replace text after detecting it.

The SciFig tools do not show up.+

Check that the connector is enabled for the chat, then reconnect it; in Claude Code run /mcp. If sign-in fails, disconnect the app under Settings → API Keys and connect again.
